It's 9am and the fog has burned off. No rain. The Team is ballasted and on the way to the grid via the two scales where all 127 sailplanes are weighed each day.
So far today, I've spoken with the Scorer, the Weatherman and the Director of the Championship on various issues. They are all accessible, friendly and quite accommodating. As usual, the Captain's Meeting will convene at 0945, the Pilot's Briefing at 1015, followed immediately by the US Team Pilots meeting and discussing the weather and their daily strategy.
Each day, 15 competitors from one class will carry GPS trackers provided by the contest. Today, the Open Class will be equipped and Dick Butler will be one of the pilots with a tracker. Here's the link:
