We're in the middle of the unofficial practice week, which precedes the official practice week, which precedes the competition.
The transport of Ron Tabery's ASW-22BLE has been delayed, and Ron is still in Germany waiting for his ship to come in. We expect that he'll miss one of the official practice days.
Meanwhile, the weather in Leszno has been outstanding, and the rest of the team has been flying. We've had two 4-hour Assigned Area Tasks and one 550 km Racing Task.
While the pilots are out enjoying themselves, the crews and the Captain have been busy setting up camp, securing phones, shopping for garden hoses, and dealing with the somewhat quirky Organisers. At the Briefing each morning the Director reminds us that the registration desk is open and that pilots should register as soon as possible. We would like to comply, but they refuse to process individual registrations - we must register as a Team. Five of us have our papers in order and are standing by to register. But one of us isn't here yet, so we're out of luck. We're not the only team in this situation. There isn't much business at the registration desk at all.
Scrutineering starts tomorrow. I wonder if we'll have to show up as a group for that as well.
